Personal protective equipment or PPC is now among the most common applications that can be seen in factory and working environments. PPE equipment can be easily worn by workers for minimizing exposure to different kinds of occupational hazards. Some PPE examples include fall protection, aprons, gloves, safety jackets, foot, eye and head protection. The use of PPE would only be a single element in a complete program safety that would employ different kinds of strategies for maintenance of healthy and safe working environment. However, total or permanent protection isn’t guaranteed by PPE as the hazard isn’t eliminated itself.

The major elements of personal protective equipment can be categorized through the body area of protected body, by the types of hazard, and the garment accessory. A single item, like safety shoes, would provide different types of protection: with steel insoles and steel toe cap you get different proper protection from puncture injuries or crushing, impervious rubber and protection lining from chemicals and water protection, high reflectivity and heal resistance through radiant heat protection, and high electrical resistivity protection through electric shock. Here lie the top 8 major elements of PPE-:

1. Noise

With the help of earmuffs and earplugs the damage extent to hearing can be significantly reduced thus increasing ear safety. High level noise exposure causes irreversible loss of hearing and impairment with psychological or physical stress.

2. Access and height protection

The range height and access protection is wide and includes things like fall-arrest systems, body harnesses, lowering harnesses, rescue lifting, lanyards, energy absorbers, etc. Such kind of PPE is specialized and needs thorough training through competent persons, in user checks and the right use as well.

3. Respirators

With respiratory mask it becomes simple to protect the worker from breathing contaminants in the polluted air, thus preserving respiratory tract and the heart’s health. Two main types of respirators are present. Type one functions through filtering gases, chemicals, and airborne particles, through air breathed by workers. The process of filtration would either be active or passive. Particulate respirators or gas masks are main examples of these kinds of respirators. The type two helps in protection of users by offering clean and respirable air through any other source. This type also includes self-contained breathing apparatus and respirators.

4. Protective clothing

Being one of the main PPE elements, it is all-encompassing and refers to different uniforms and suits that is worn for protection of users through any harm. Ballistic coats that are worn through law enforcement officials and lab coats or safety gloves that are worn by scientists daily at work would come under this category.

5. Ensembles

In personal protective equipment, many types of ensembles can be found for protecting you against different conditions and this work together for specific tasks or occupations. PPE equipment like safety helmets is usable for multiple tasks or occupation for offering maximum protection to users. Chainsaw protection can be done by wearing several equipment (especially hearing protection, face guard, anti-vibration gloves, Kevlar chaps and chainsaw safety boots. Additionally, other measures are also advisable for using this hazardous equipment

6. Bee-keepers

Different clothing equipment is worn depending on bee temperament and reaction of bees to availability of nectar. At the minimum, most of the bee keepers wear brimmed hats and veils made through hardware clothes that bear similarity with window-screen materials. Another level of protection would involve long gauntlets with leather gloves.

7. Eye protection

While eye protection equipment would vary per the occupation, the offered safety gets generalized. With safety glasses, you get long term protection from external debris and side protection is possible through side shields and wrap around designs. Eyes can be protected from welding, dust, splashes and other hazards by Safety Goggles. Face shields can be worn over standard eyewear for protection against blood, impact and chemical-borne hazards.

8. Skin protection

Second most common injuries are related to the skin and occupation related skin illnesses like skin cancers, contact dermatitis, infections and other skin injuries are second most common occupational diseases that are costly. Any skin protection PPE is of utmost importance at the workplace as it becomes a barrier between hazardous agent and the skin.

In August 1969, American B-52’s carpet-bombed the My Son Sanctuary in Viet Nam to dislodge a unit of Viet Cong using the area for training. The Viet Cong believed the United States would not bomb a sacred and historical site. They felt safe in this naturally defensible area nestled on a valley two miles wide between two mountain ranges and fed by the Thu Bon River. The valley seemed a perfect place for training and rest. They were right about the valley but wrong about the Americans. The Americans bombed the area for a week, until various religious leaders pleaded with them to stop. Only 17 of the 71 original structures, rediscovered by French archeologist M.C. Paris in 1898, were saved.

My Son, which means “beautiful mountain” in Vietnamese is a cluster of 4th through 14th century Hindu Temples near the village of Duy Phu built by the Champa dynasties and built in conjunction with the cities of Indrapura and Simhapura. The cities today are known by the Vietnamese names of Dong Durong and Tra Kieu. Mu Son is the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina. In 1899 Henry Parmentier and M.L Finot did extensive documentary work marking out the various sites, grouping temples, sketching and photographing different buildings, while working in, what a Frenchman would consider, incredible heat and humidity. The temples were built to honor such Hindu Gods as Krishna, Vishnu, and especially Shiva.

For many centuries the Champa ruled much of today’s Viet Nam. Their center of power was at Dong Durong, near My Son. Eventually the Viet defeated them and pushed them out of the area. They moved farther south but were unable to survive as a cohesive group.

Thirty-two steles (large stones and slabs carrying inscriptions) survive in the area. The inscriptions document various kings, and gifts of land and treasure to groups in the area. They also tell of different Gods. Some of the more interesting Steles document historical events including wars with Cambodia in the 12th century.

Most visitors today come from DaNang or Hoi An on organized tours. Roadside cafes line the route. Some tour buses stop at higher priced restaurants because they receive a commission. Most larger tours do not bother and drive directly to My Son where snacks and drinks are available next to the gift shop. The nearest hotel is about a mile from the entrance.

The sunrise tour departs Hoi An about 5:30 am. This tour arrives about 6:30 before the throngs of regular tourists who arrive at 8:30 or later.

There is a Champa museum near the ticket office and another one inside the compound. The best Champa museum is in DaNang and is well worth a visit. Tours can be arranged at almost any hotel, guesthouse, or travel agency in nearby towns including Hoi An, DaNang, and Hue. Return trips from My Son to Hoi An often include a one hour boat ride back to the town.

Electric trams drive visitors from the entrance to the ruins about a mile away. The path through the sites is relatively level and an easy walk under a canopy of rich green foliage. The gift shop offers a variety of interesting goods including reproductions of a dancing Shiva.

On a stage near the gift shop dancers offer a program as part of the tour. Just the costumes offer a lovely site although the authenticity of the dances are suspect, having little original information from which to draw. Regardless, the performances offer a nice respite in the shade and are unique pleasure.

There is a beautiful lake near the ruins. So far the lake is mostly undiscovered. This will not last long. Several tours, like Karma Waters, offer hiking in the area and kayaking on the lake. Discover a secluded area and tourists will come. Such is the dilemma caused by tourism.

Paper recycling refers to the technique of recovery of waste paper and recreating those into newer products. There are three types of paper which may be used in the form of feedstocks to make recycled paper. These are:

O Mill broke: These are paper trimmings and different paper scrap formed from manufacturing which are internally recycled within a mill.
O Pre-consumer waste: These refer to materials which were discarded prior to being ready for use by consumers.
O Post-consumer waste: These are materials discarded after use like old magazines, residential waste, etc.

The process of recycling paper

O Collection: In addition to magazines and newspapers, until recently large amount of recovered paper were collected from industrial or commercial sources. With the rising demand for recycling, there has been a tapping of other sources like households. Contaminated papers must be kept separately as these are not fit for recycling.
O Pulping: Recovered paper, after being graduated and sorted is delivered to the mill. This is then "slushed" into a pulp and contaminants removed. The fibers are gradually cleaned after which the resultant pulp is screened or filtered several times for making it fit for paper creation.
O De-inking: Prior to the reclaimed paper being used for manufacturing different varieties of paper, printing inks are removed for increasing purity and whiteness through a flotation technique.

Benefits of recycling

O Newspaper recycling saves about 14% of land space
O One ton of paper recycling can save about 17 trees.
O Reduction in emission of sulfur dioxide
O Saving of energy
O Recycling of paper can be done up to about 8 times for creating new products

History of Iganna Town

The Sabiganna of Iganna origin is traceable to Adebiyi, one of the grandsons of Oduduwa known as Onisabe.

After the demise of Adebiyi – the Onisabe of Sabe, it was the wish of the people that his son called Gandi Sabi Safa to ascend the throne of Onisabe but the kingmakers had the contrary view because he was not the heir of the Onisabe and they insisted that the first son of the Oba should succeed his father on the throne.

Consequently, Sabi Gandi and his supporter left Sabe (now in the Republic of Benin) and returned to Yoruba land, their ancestral homeland. He left Sabe with his two wives – Bolujiro and Oluorikan. Bolujiro begat Ajibilu while Oluorikan begat Alokolodo. Both Ajibilu and Alokolodo later ascend the throne of their father.

Ajibilu begat Etielu, Baya, Agunloye, Ajimati and Polajo while Alokolodo begat the Alokolodo dynasty.

In short, Gandi Sabi Safa after consultation with Ifa Oracle settled down at Iganna immediately after Ofiki river in accordance with the directive of the oracle but before he settled down, he observed a hut pitched by a man called Balako who was happy to lead him to Alaafin, the owner of the land. Gandi was pleased beyond words at the mention of Alaafin name that his father uses to tell him about before his death, that they were from the same mother.

This promted Gandi to meet Alaafin and narrated his story. Although he was welcomed by Alaafin but the Tapa war was his great concern. Gandi promised to spur his army into action to joined hand with Alaafin to fight the war and eventually won and brought the decapitated head of the Tapa King to the Alaafin.

Consequently, Gandi received the Royal blessing of the Alaafin who handed over staff of Authority known as “Opagun” and instructed him to install chiefs bearing all the titles known under the Alaafin and that is why the chieftaincy titles like Basorun (Bada), Asipa (Basipa), Samu (Basamu), Akinnuku, Lagunna, Gbonka and Agbaakin are installed by the Sabiganna till today.

In the old Oyo Empire, Iganna was known to be powerful. Then, for administrative conveniences, the descendants of Oranmiyan or the Alaafin were divided into four distinct families known by their distinctive dialects and forming the four provinces of Yoroba proper.

(i) The Ekun Otun or Western province which included all the towns along the right bank of the River Ogun down to Iberekodo. Iganna was the chief town. Other important towns were Okeho, Iseyin, Iwere-Ile, Ijio, Eruwa, Iwawun, Iberekodo, idiyan, Ibode, Igboho, Ipapo, Kisi, Ado-Awaye and Ibarapas etc.

(ii) Ekun Osi or Metropolitan province comprised all the towns east of Oyo; Ilorin, Ogbomosho, Ikoyi, being the chief town, other important towns are the Igbonas, Oro, Irawo etc.

(iii) The Ibolo province lies to the South-East of the Ekun Osi towns as far as Ede, Iresa being the chief town. Other important towns are: Ofa, Oyan, Okuku, Ikirun, Osogbo, Ido, Ilobu, Ejigbo and Ede.

(iv) The Epo (weeds) are the towns lying to the south and South-West of Oyo, the chief town of which was Oluwo of Iwo. Other important towns in this division were: Masifa, Ife-Odan, Ara, Iwo, Ilora, Akinmorin, Fiditi, Awe, Ago Oja.

Summarily, the word ‘IGANNA’ literally denotes wall fence in Yoroba language. The town is known and addressed as IGANNA and the title of the king as SABIGANNA because it captures and preserves the historical antecedents of the town on how Gandi Sabi Safa our founding father emigrated from Sabe in the present Republic of Benin as a result of chieftaincy tussle between him and his brother in the interest of peace. This accounts for why Iganna people are peace-loving till date.

History had it that Sabe was fence round with an entrance gate as it was done in the past for security reason. When Gandi Sabi Safa decided to migrate from the town with his supporters so as to avert pandemonium that could ensued because of the chieftaincy tussle between him and his elder brother after the demise of their father – Adebiyi, he considered it wise to escape through the wall fence with a ladder rather than to be declared security risk that could go out and reinforce to attack the town by security guards that man the main entrance to the fenced Sabe.

In an attempt to preserve this historical experience, Gandi and his supporters decided to name their new found land, IGANNA and the title of the king, SABIGANNA which is the coinage of SABI that climbed the wall fence (IGANNA) to escape with his supporters; SABIGANNA.

The cultural heritage of the Iganna includes the Onko dialect of the Oyo tribe. The people are predominantly farmers. Cloth weaving (Aso_Oke) is also an occupation of the indigenes of Iganna. Apart from these, trading is also one of the ancient occupations of the town. According to history, the people of Iganna do trek from Iganna to Abeokuta, Ibadan, Lagos and other neighbouring towns/villages for the purpose of trading in the ancient days.

The Iganna people dress in all known Yoroba outfits. These includes Gbariye, Siki, Dandongo, Buba and Sokoto (males), Iro and Buba (females), with Sanyan Cap and Gele to match.

Hunting is another predominant occupation of the people of Iganna. The predominant food of farmers in the Yoroba tribe are also food of people of Iganna such as Oka (Amala), Iyan (Pounded Yam), Eko jije, Eko mimu, Lanfun (Cassava flour), with Egusi soup and other vegetables.

Fishing is also a paramount occupation of the Iganna, hence, the people are described as Iganna a fie yin be lu Odo… meaning, the people of Iganna do jump into river in a backward style for swimming.

Iganna people are also warriors according to history. E.g., Tapa war, Dahomey war during Alaafin Obalokun at Oyoro.

To maintain a proper healthy body, it is very essential to maintain healthy teeth. The teeth are an important part of the human body and so if their health is neglected, it affects the entire body. For this reason, dentistry is an essential part of modern healthcare. If proper dental facilities are not available, the society will not be healthy. The role played by the dentist in maintaining the health of the people is very crucial. Proper oral hygiene is key to maintain a healthy body and soul.

There are a number of specializations in the field of dentistry. General dentistry is the amalgam of all these fields. It has a number of branches such as oral surgery, periodontics, orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. The general dentist works in a number of fields and treats a number of different types of cases. Some of his responsibilities include identifying the various diseases and conditions that affect the teeth, creating and managing dental treatment plans, and leading the entire dental team which consists of other professionals such as technicians, diagnosticians and other paramedical staff.

In some cases, the help of a specialist may be needed. The general dentist cannot perform complicated procedures. In such cases, the general dentist will refer the case to specialists who have experience in the field. For example, dental implants are always performed by cosmetic dental surgeons. However, normal procedures such as fillings, cleaning and simpler cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening are performed by the general dentist.

Apart from diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases that affect the teeth, the general dentist also provides reliable information to patients. He also provides guidance to maintain proper oral hygiene. If you need any information, it is best to approach your general dentist.

Many developments have been made in the field of general dentistry. These developments are a result of new discoveries and inventions in other fields such as biomedical engineering, therapeutics and material sciences. The field of general dentistry owes a lot to these fields. As technology is progressing at a rapid pace, we can expect even better developments and procedures in the near future. In the future, dental procedures will be not only be more effective but also easily affordable for everyone, thanks to new technology.

All on four is a dental procedure that utilizes only four implants to support an upper upper or lower denture. During the mid to late 1990's, the all on four dental implant procedure was created. In the early 2000's, implant manufacturer Nobel Biocare collaborated with noted European implant dentist Paulo Malo, and by performing extensive research on bio-metrics and with the aid of computer simulations, determined the best possible positioning of these four implants to gain optimal support while minimizing Surgery and recovery time, as well as materials necessary to complete this procedure.

Minimal Invasiveness

All these factors combined have helped to reduce the cost of the implant method for securing full dentures. Using only four implants to secure the denture minimizes the invasiveness of the implant method of securing dentures. This method minimizes not only the surgery time, but the healing time as well. In some cases the denture may be secured at the same time as the implant surgery. Using the all on four procedures also minimized the need for performing bone graft procedures as well.

Bone Grafting

Bone graft procedures where necessary in the past to reinforce the implant locations. Not only were these graft procedures painful and time consuming, but where expensive as well, causing this method of denture placement to be unobtainable for some people. This relatively new procedure is very desirable as the patient can walk into their dentists office for a preliminary visit for the dentist to take x-rays and determine the best placement of the implants, followed by a second visit when the patient can have the procedure completed And when they leave they will have a full set of teeth in place!

Something like this was unheard of until recently. Prior to the development of the all four implant procedure, patients would need six or more implants and often require bone graft surgery to support implant sites. Completion of the procedure could take up to eighteen months! This meant that patients would be without teeth or would have to wear ill-fitting temporary dentures until the procedure was completed, not to mention the discomfort to be endured.

Follow Ups

The patient will need to go back for follow up visits over the next several months up until about six months. At this time the implants should be completely healed and the bone fused to them and the dentist will make a new impression for a stronger, better fitting, permanent set of teeth. So if you are in the market for a set of treatments, talk to your dentist about the all on four procedure and see if this is right for you.

All corundum (aluminum oxides) that is not red is called sapphire. The word sapphire comes from the Greek 'sappheiros' meaning blue. However, sapphire does not occur only in blue color. Sapphires can be yellow, green, brown, purple or pink, depending on the presence of various types of minerals. For example, the presence of chromium produces pink sapphire and the presence of iron produces yellow and green sapphires.

Sapphires are mainly found in Sri Lanka, India and Burma. Indian sapphires come from Kashmir. They are cornflower blue in color and are regarded as the finest blue sapphires. Sri Lankan sapphires are the most common and are typically light to medium blue in color. The majority of fancy-colored sapphires available in the jewelry industry are from Sri Lanka. The most common of these fancy sapphires are yellow, or golden, and pink in color. The pinkish orange ones are the rarest and most expensive.

Sapphires are also found in Thailand and Australia, and they are dark blue in color. The gems obtained from these two countries generally belong to the category of the inexpensive to average priced range of sapphire gems in the jewelry market. Montana is the only important source of sapphires in the United States. The sapphire produced is of an attractive metallic blue in color. China, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria have recently also become sources of sapphires.

Most of the sapphire gems being sold today have had their color enhanced, most commonly by heating. The purpose of heat treatment is to enrich the color and improve the stone's clarity. With this method of treatment, colorless or paled-colored stones can be turned into brilliant blue or yellow ones. Depending on the original material and the type of heating process, heat treatments of gemstones can produce a variety of results. For example, sapphires that have rutile (titanium dioxide) crystals can be valued by heating and then being cooled rapidly. This would result in the rutile crystals dissolving into the corundum and the gemstone becomes clear. Colorless or pale-colored stones after undergoing heating without the presence of oxygen would turn to rich blue color. However, if these stones are trapped in the presence of oxygen, they would turn into intenet yellow color. Most yellow sapphires have been treated in this manner.

Sapphires have been of great significance to past societies. For example, the Mystical Jews considered the blue gemstones as a secret message from the beyond. The Persians believed that the world is resting on a giant sapphire and the sky is a reflection of the color of the stone. In Europe, during the Middle Ages, sapphires were believed to be an antidote against poisons. Although sapphires occur in a wide variety of colors, traditionally blue has been the most popular and valuable. The blue sapphire gem was widely used in jewelry of royalty and was considered the most appropriate stone for ecclesiastical rings. It is known to be the bestower of truth and good health.

Gemstones are considered beautiful, rare and durable. The beauty of a gemstone is undiminished with time. A gemstone could sparkle as brightly many years from now. It has lasting value and is well liked by many. Here, beautiful pieces of gemstone jewelry are created and widely used for personal adornment as well as gifts for friends and loved ones. Presenting these beautiful items as gifts is always well loved and cherished.

Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September. As such, a piece of jewelry with this gemstone makes a perfect elegant birthday present for those who were born in that month. Sapphire is also the anniversary stone for the 5th and 45th year. A piece of jewelry with this gemstone can also be a great anniversary present in these years. You will be amazed how this beautiful gemstone can be made into different jewelry items such as rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, brooches and pendants. With such a wide variety of items, you will never experience any shortage of gift ideas.

Some people buy gems for the purpose of collecting them. They find these gems fascinating and enjoy having a collection of the pieces that they like.

While many of us understand the need for regular dental care, a surprisingly large number of people still will not see a dentist regularly. Oftentimes, this is a result of concerns about cost. When asked why they have not seen a dentist recently, more than one-third of individuals asked, reported that it was due to the price of care.

While dental insurance is able to reduce these costs, a lot of people have difficulty getting a plan that is both affordable and comprehensive. In 2008, nearly 45 million people had no dental insurance. Of people with health insurance through work, nearly 80% also received dental benefits. Only 30% of those people also had a dental plan.

As these numbers indicate, having a good dental insurance plan is directly correlated with better health. The better your insurance, the less likely you are to have cavities or more serious issues with your teeth. Even if you do not get dental insurance by your employment, you must find an individual plan that will make it affordable to see a dentist.

Fortunately, you can find individual dental insurance plan policies that can help. However, prior to choosing a plan, there are a few key elements that you should bear in mind. Otherwise, you may end up with a plan that will not provide you with the coverage that you need.

If you are already a patient of a particular dentist, and you are happy with using this type of care, you should choose a plan that he accepts. Otherwise, either your new insurance will not actually save you any money or you will have to get a new dentist. Before you start shopping, talk to your dentist's office to find out which plans he accepts.

Consider your personal needs and the needs of your family when you are looking for a plan. Are you simply looking for insurance for yourself, or are there other members of the household who need coverage as well? For example, if you have children, you need to look for a plan that covers pediatric dentistry.

Additionally it is a good idea to consider the future cost of orthodontics when choosing a plan. The odds are that at least one of your children will need braces. More than 80 percent of orthodontic treatment is done on patients under the age of 18. Look for a plan that gives generous benefits for such treatment.

Make sure to balance the cost of the monthly premiums against your own out-of-pocket obligations. Many people automatically choose the plan with the lowest premiums, only to be shocked when they learn how much they have to pay before their benefits kick in. It may be worthwhile to pay a bit more each month so you pay less later on.

There is a lot to consider when you are shopping for individual dental insurance. Take your time and do not make any hasty decisions. This way, you can find a plan that works for you.
