The fact is that a dentist can improve the whiteness and brightness of your smile. If you opt for this cosmetic treatment, your teeth will look better and you will feel more confident. Keep in mind that professional teeth whitening treatments are not permanent solutions, and you will need to get touch-ups periodically if you want to maintain your new look.

If you want the best results, you should think about visiting a dentist for an in-office teeth-whitening treatment. This procedure involves using peroxide gel, which is applied to the teeth by a professional. The peroxide usually remains on the teeth for 20-minute intervals that add up to 60 minutes or so. In order to maintain your new look make sure you brush and floss after meals. Avoid dark-colored beverages and foods for a week or so. Whenever possible, drink sodas and coffee with straws. You can use over-the-counter bleaching products and whitening toothpastes periodically to maintain your new look. You can also maintain your new smile with teeth whitening rinses. These rinses freshen the breath and they help reduce gum disease and plaque. They also contain hydrogen peroxide, so they do lighten the teeth. Manufacturers say that it takes about 3 months to see results with teeth whitening rinses. You may also want to consider visiting your dentist for additional treatments every year or so.

Keep in mind that some people should stay away from teeth whitening procedures. Bleaching isn’t recommended for children who are younger than 16. People who have sensitive gums and teeth or receding gums should consult with a dentist before undergoing a teeth-whitening treatment. Anyone who is allergic to peroxide should avoid this procedure. Individuals who have cavities, exposed roots, and gum disease should also avoid undergoing teeth whitening procedures. Cavities and tooth decay need to be treated before getting this procedure done.

We all have an uncommonly groundless fear of dentists. This probably dates back to the time when our parents have taken us there for our first tooth extraction. We get anesthesia for it and in truth, we have probably not felt a thing or even a small sting but this has not changed how we view dentists in general. This time however, dental procedures have become all the rage and people have suddenly forgotten their fear of the dentists. Besides the “dentists” now have a new and more fancy name, cosmetic dentists. This is also different from what we call orthodontist. So what’s the difference among these three?

There is actually little difference in the procedures that they perform. They actually do the same procedures except that ordinary dentists are more focused on keeping our teeth health and free from cavity. They mostly do cleaning and tooth extraction and most of their clients are kids and teens. Orthodontists on the other hand are more trained into putting in braces and retainer and making sure that the teeth is aligned. A cosmetic dentist is basically a more experienced orthodontist and is more trained in reconstructing the teeth.

What he does is not your ordinary alignment of the teeth. He tackles cases that are very complicated. This is why a cosmetic dentistry procedure can involve a lot of extraction especially if you teeth are too many and the space inside the mouth is too cramped for all your teeth. It can also involve braces and elastic bands and sometimes, replacing the whole teeth with a fake one that is inserted into the gums. This is an improvement from the false teeth that most need to remove at night.

So what exactly can you expect with a cosmetic dentistry procedure? It all really depends on how much work your teeth require. Some people, who have already worn braces in high school will probably require little work. They will probably just need to do some minor cleaning and some whitening procedures to make their smiles whiter and brighter. They would probably not even need any work at all.

Usually, people who go to cosmetic dentists require major work and reconstruction on their teeth. These are the people who have too many teeth or those with twisted teeth or gaps. With those whose mouths are too cramped, they will probably have a lot of tooth extractions which will give your teeth space to move and adjust. Those who have rotting teeth and have had missing tooth inside may need to have tooth insertions or false teeth.

Afterwards, they will be made to wear braces to help move the teeth and align them together. This can take a few weeks or even months. Most will need to wear retainers after wearing the braces as teeth tend to move if they do not have some sort of metal that will keep them in place. But don’t worry, often these retainers will only be worn at night when sleeping.

Life can be downright scary – sometimes more than others. Probably all of us are wandering through life afraid of something – maybe a situation, an event or other people. Because we’re individuals with differing backgrounds and experiences, our fears vary from person to person. Some people have no problem parachuting from an airplane while others of us think that’s a really dumb idea and our insides get all stirred up even thinking about it. Some of us rather enjoy standing in front of a group of people teaching or just BS’ing while others toss our cookies immediately at the idea.

So how did we learn to be skeer’d of all this different stuff? Even though there are likely some foundation survival, self-preservation instincts in all of us, most of the rest of our fears come from our life learning experiences – our programming. If your mother dove under the bed every time there was an electrical storm, there is an excellent chance that you’ll be tempted to do exactly the same thing. If your older sibling was deathly afraid of the monsters in the closet or under the bed, there’s a good chance that you will have absorbed at least some of this apprehension. We’ve learned what we’ve learned and dutifully filed it away in our subconscious. Then, unless we’ve been really aware of what has happened to start up these fears in the first place, we’ve probably put out a bunch of effort to make sure they’ve been solidly reinforced.

It’s not uncommon for us to get things twisted up, however. Here’s a quick example. Regress to childhood for just a minute. Since as early as you can remember, Uncle Harold has always showed up at your house at least once a week. Uncle Harold looks funny – he’s short, fat, balding and smokes super stinky cigars. Uncle Harold is a real pain in the rear. Every time he gets close to you, he either pinches you really hard – or gives you a painful swat. Uncle Harold is an obnoxious, aggravating butthead. You do everything you can to keep your distance from Uncle Harold, but he always finds you. Your life is miserable when he’s around.

So did our stupid subconscious simply file away the information that Uncle Harold is a bad person and that we hate to be around him? No way. In time, our wonderful, well-meaning memory bank extrapolated this basic concept to “Short, fat, balding men are dangerous! Keep away! Keep away! Do not trust them! And watch out for cigar smokers, too! Danger! Danger!” It would take more than a few positive interactions with a super nice, short, fat, bald guy before we decided it was OK to do some reprogramming.

Is it any wonder we’re screwed up? Think of all the misinformation we been subjected to over the years – and how easily we have been able to reinforce this BS. Some of our programming has led us now to firmly believe (and by doggies we can prove all this with examples) that Hispanics are lazy, you just can’t trust Blacks, folks with Polish ancestry are stupid, Catholics are idol worshippers, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult, all Middle Eastern people are dangerous, the inhabitants of Kentucky are all inbred idiots, all men with long hair smoke pot, tattoos are a sign of the devil, all New Yorkers are inconsiderate, pushy bastards, Nebraskans are all just dumb farmers, the Orientals are taking over the US, all Jewish folks are greedy, money-hungry tightwads, and on and on and on and…. Yucky programming (according to my programming, obviously…)

As a result, we fear (or are afraid of what they will or won’t do) Hispanics, Blacks, Polish folks, Catholics, etc.. We also have learned to fear such diverse things as failure, success, being alone, crowds, commitment, lack of commitment, death, life, heights, holes in the ground, not being liked, the future, dentists, flying, driving, walking, running, our government, other governments and a whole slew of other things probably including being afraid that other folks think may we’re afraid of something. Whew!

So what can we do about it! First choice is obviously “nothing”. We can just continue through life being afraid of whatever it is we’re afraid of. Or – we can at least sort of understand how we started being afraid of this stuff in the first place and redirect this fear energy to doing something – anything – that will help us blast through this roadblock to fun living. If we are able to honestly recognize that we indeed do have a fear (and we do) and want to get over it (it’s not a requirement but it could be a good thing), then it will probably be easier if we can get some help with our little project. A helper – maybe professional help if we’re trying to address a life-limiting fear – will make the whole process easier. About the only way I know of to conquer a fear (or use it to our advantage to learn something) is to meet it – or even greet it – face to face.

To overcome the fear of heights for example, we just need to have the experience of being in places that are “high”. It might work out best to start low and work our way to high. Or maybe not. Take your pick. With a helper to encourage us – or maybe even hold us – we could walk to the edge of the second level of a parking garage and look down. Then the third level, then…OK, you get the idea. It won’t be long until we get reprogrammed, change the fear to excited enthusiasm and perch on the edge of the Grand Canyon to enjoy the sunrise. Cool!

To overcome a fear of public speaking, we need to speak in public. To overcome a fear of flying, we need to fly more. Pretty simple, huh? Yeah, right! Just taking the first step is a major obstacle to all of us. That’s why a helper is a pretty good idea. Helpers and research coupled with open-minded thinking – can also help us with our fears of, misconceptions of, and prejudices against – concepts or people. Yes, we will always have the right to hold our own opinions so this doesn’t mean that we have to “buy in” to the beliefs or values of others. But if we are able to understand how we have become programmed in our thinking and beliefs over the years, it’s a bunch easier to understand how the same thing happens to everyone else on the face of the earth. We gain an appreciation of other’s beliefs and ways of living and with our restructured thinking, grant them the “right” to live their lives any way they see fit (within generally accepted parameters – which might not be all that great either come to think of it).

One last thing. Overcoming one fear helps to develop a personal mental process and a feeling of success that can help us address the next one. The more we work on this, the easier it becomes. Even though it may sound a little strange, a few of us sometimes start to get such a surge out of conquering fears that we actually start to look for new exciting, adrenaline-pumping adventures. Now, that is scary!

Our fears provide a great opportunity to learn more about ourselves and the world we live in. That’s probably worth doing. I think I’ll go find a high place. I really need to work on that…

Going for a dental treatment almost always is not something most of us look forward to. It is not the kind of appointment that we are most eager to attend. Often we will wish that the date will be moved or cancelled. Dentists are probably the most feared among health practitioners. Children often behave like meek lambs when told they are to be sent to the dentist as punishment for behaving badly. Most of us have been scared of dentists since we were young. Often we stick with the dentist our family knows for years but it is also wise to evaluate if our dentist is providing us with adequate treatment. If not, it is probably best to seek a new and better practitioner. Moving to a new place also presents the problem of finding a good dentist. Moreover, there are many of us who do not have a regular dentist.

How do you find a new and good dentist? Your first instinct might be flipping the yellow pages and letting your fingers do the searching. Although most of us will do just that, finding a new dentist through the yellow pages and local dental societies are not very good ideas. They may have a complete list of dentists in the area however, they do not evaluate them and do not give points of comparison. Instead, you can try these sources:

1. Check if there is a dental school nearby. Dental schools are good sources of fine practicing dentists. You can call and ask for the names of the practicing faculty members.

2. Check for hospitals and heath care centers that provide dental services in your area. The dentist in charge in those facilities may be able to provide you with good recommendations. The dentist in charge may very well know the reputations and performances of his colleagues practicing in the area.

3. You can ask an orthodontist or a periodontist if you know one. They will be able to recommend to you a good general practitioner. These specialists should be familiar with the kind of work referring dentists do.

4. If you are moving to a new place, you can ask your current dentist if he knows of a good dentist in your new location.

Your new dentist should carry out a preventative approach. This means that on your first visit he should perform a thorough medical and dental history with a complete head and neck examination. Head and neck exam is usually done on the patient’s very first visit and every 6 months thereafter.

Your dentist should provide you with the adequate knowledge on how to take care of your teeth and perform good oral hygiene. These are the preventative measures in fighting against dental decay and other dental problems.

Your dentist should invite you back for regular check-ups. This will ensure that no problem will be left unchecked. The dental hygienist should perform oral prophylaxis or dental cleaning after every 6 months.

Your dentist should take x-rays more responsibly. Full series of X-rays should be taken no more than once every five years or so. Not taking any X-ray’s on the other hand is as bad as taking X-rays too often.

Your dentist and dental hygienist should practice proper care against infection. They should wear rubber gloves and a mask when treating their patients. Your dentist should be keen in explaining to you any sanitary procedures his clinic is implementing and or using to protect his patients and himself against unwanted infections. Finding a good dentist is not really so difficult only if you know how to handle it.

If I had to choose one key component for achieving the highest possible levels of success for an individual, its attitude all the way. Having a rock-solid fantastic attitude is not just necessary, its crucial. Long before anyone knows whether you’ve got the steak (skills), they feel your sizzle – or lack of it!

As you’re navigating the daily challenges of maximizing your time, handling personnel issues, finalizing and delivering proposals, counting inventory, and closing the deal, its easy to lose hold of your outlook, feel overwhelmed and become frustrated. Here are some of the most effective ways to approach getting – and keeping – an attitude that’s going to help make your road to the top just this side of painless.

Learn from everything. The questions we ask ourselves can make or break us. When challenges hit – and they do – one power question to pose right away is: “What is the lesson for me in this situation?” Have you noticed when you don’t learn your lesson the first time, you end up the same or similar situation again? By asking that question, you can drill down what you’re supposed to learn from the situation to avoid repeating it in the future.

The second part of this learning process is putting systems in place so the lesson will automatically not repeat itself. The next question is, “What are ten ways I can make sure this never happens again?” This list is a brain-storming session that enables you to learn from the fresh wound and avoid future ones.

Example – You get in your car on the way to a client. You’re scheduled to be just on time if you leave now. As you turn the ignition, you notice the “low fuel” light is on. Rats! Now you have to take at least five minutes to gas up, leaving the possibility wide-open you will be late. I used to experience this quite a bit. Now I have my car gassed up at least once a week, and more often if I notice the gauge falls below the half-tank marker. That way, I never have to stop when I should be on my way.

Spend time identifying and addressing your “gaps” will allow you to safeguard yourself and prevent future hardship.

This too shall pass. Remember it feels the worst when you’re in the midst of the crisis. It is easy to lose perspective and give up hope. This is the best time to stay steadfast in your conviction. Keep your vision, goals and dreams vividly in your mind. Life consists of seasons, as do situations. There will come a day when the awful problem you’re having now will be a distant memory. Prepare to triumph over this situation now by remembering “this too shall pass.”

No retreat, no surrender! This is a critical mindset to adopt – preferably now when you’re not facing a crisis. Do not back down from adversity! You have it in you to face and overcome anything that comes your way. If you’re not entirely convinced this is true, think back to other times when you thought the world was coming to an end. If you’re reading this, you’re still here!

Evaluate how you will choose to move forward, keeping in mind that one super-effective choice available to you includes “bend but don’t break.” Think of trees in a storm – they gracefully accommodate natural forces while still staying strongly anchored by their foundation. Think of yourself as a tree in the face of your storms and sway in the face of difficulty while not giving in.

Half-full or half-empty? Most people possess a dual thought process: “I’m awesome”… “Maybe not so much.” There’s a tennis match that goes on in their head, an argument of will that in one moment serves them in their quest to move forward… and the next takes the wind out of their sails. Seeing the glass as half-full really isn’t the Pollyanna approach, it’s the approach that allows you to retain hope.

Hope is the single most named factor when people are polled about how they survived and even thrived in the face of adversity. Keep hope alive and you’re keeping your dreams alive – and increasing your chances of goal achievement!

If its to be, its up to me. The only person who can make “it” (your vision and goals) happen is you. The only thing or person standing in the way of your success is you. By adopting this attitude, you set in motion invisible forces that will come to your aid. You also raise your vibration – and you will attract to you what you need to achieve your every desire. Staying in “possibility thinking” will keep you focused on how you can accomplish your goals. If you’re going to argue for something, argue for how you can make it happen, instead of arguing about how it just not going to happen.

Remember, you are the CEO of your life. With a jaw set with determination, a few upward shifts in your attitude and a desire to remain steadfast to the end almost guarantees your success. Go for it!

    What you’ll find is a couple pages of dentists that have taken the time to put their information on the web. Now you may ask, “so what?” Admittedly, a website doesn’t guarantee anything, but hear me out. There was a time when websites could mislead and deceive the general public, but thanks to the advent of the citizen journalist, and social media on the Internet, shady Dentists will be exposed in a heart beat.

    What you’ll want to do in this step is visit a couple of their sites. Look for the technology standards they use, and areas that they specialize in. If they are ranked well in Google, its a good possibility that others have endorsed that dentist’s site with a link, meaning they probably are endorsing him/her.

Super-Charge Your Workout Results

If you’re focused on your health and vitality, no doubt you realize the importance of daily discipline, especially in terms of exercise. Whether you travel a lot, or work a stressful job, or own your own business, you know you need to maximize your energy level in order to handle the rigors of your work. You want to make sure every move you make to enhance your health really counts.

This June’s journal of the American Societies for Experimental Biology reported that consuming a protein drink right after exercise is a workout-enhancing move. A drink containing as little as 20 grams of protein can enhance the effect of the exercise, and help your body maintain the integrity of your muscle physiology.

Try this: if you haven’t already, move your workouts to first-thing each morning. Alternate cardio intervals one day with strength training the next. Right after you finish exercising, take your morning supplements along with a good protein shake. I’m a fan of the shakes produced by Dr. Robert Atkins’ legacy company – they’re low in sugar and carbs and high in protein, and they taste pretty good. Also, if you really want to maximize the effect of the protein, take a creatine supplement as well. I like micronized creatine powder, which I dissolve in water and drink along with my protein shake.

Other workout-enhancing supplements with which I’ve had good luck include DHEA, CoQ10, chromium picolinate, and (my all-time favorite) the liquid nutraceutical I take first thing each morning. Check with a nutritionist, though, before you add a lot of supplements. Because of what have been described by my doctors over the years as “impressive allergies,” I’ve had to be careful in slowly working various supplements into my regimen.

You’ll want to make powerful, fully-maximized workouts part of an overall program of health and vitality. It all starts by creating a routine of discipline around the five key daily health habits I call The NEWSS: Nutrition (start by cutting the garbage-food out of your diet), Exercise (work up to six strong workouts a week), Water (get two liters daily), Sleep (get eight hours every night), and Supplements (that well-balanced liquid nutraceutical I mentioned is the best place to start for all-around vitality enhancement).

It’s a great idea to keep a journal, and to give yourself a score on each of The NEWSS categories every week. I didn’t get there immediately, and I am not a health practitioner – nor do I have the time to make my life all about maintaining my personal vitality – but I do find that I’m consistently able to hit at least 80% of my personal goals on all five NEWSS habits each week. You can do the same, or better, even if your life is already busy and hectic.

Your vitality is way too important to leave it all to chance. Make a plan, start somewhere, build up to your optimal routine, and make sure to celebrate your successes. Whatever else you have going on in your life, keeping yourself vital will make your family, your friends, and your business happy.
